FAQ:

  • How long did it take to compose this particular piece?

    • This took a month total - two weeks for composing and fine-tuning, two more to record and mix. I tend to record as I write, so I had bits and pieces of the piece that I then filled in with the other instruments.

  • What composers inspired this work?

    • I found inspiration in the compositions of the New England Classicists, specifically the Boston Six. These composers were incredibly influential in creating the sound of early American Classical music, and were popular in the late 1800’s - at the same time the Providence Art Club was founded.

  • Was there a space in the Art Club that spoke to you the most?

    • Every room had a different feeling, but as I walked through each of them, I felt like I was walking through history. I wanted to capture that experience for other visitors, and create an almost cinematic experience to enhance their time at the Art Club.

  • Do you write other styles of music?

    • I write in a wide variety of styles, but most recently released my first folk album, “The Twenties”! I also wrote and produced The Shakespearean Jazz Show, which combined Shakespeare’s lyrics with original jazz, in the style of New Orleans jazz bands. I am currently getting my Master’s at BerkleeNYC in Writing for Musical Theatre.
